Whelping Supplies List

Although normal gestation is 62 days, it can be from 59 to 64 days from the first mating. Keep records and be watchful. Consult your veterinarian if you have any questions.

• Emergency & Regular Veterianrian's number at hand
• Poly-fleece Shearling type material with no threads
• Puppy heating pad (people heating pads are usually too hot)
• Whelping box with pig rails
• Thermometer
• Water based lubricant
• Latex gloves
• Baby Nasal Aspirator or Syringe
• Eye dropper
• Iodine
• Rich Vanilla Ice Cream
• Corn Syrup
• Milk replacement
• Scale (weigh pups twice a day for 1-2 weeks)
• No Visitors for first four weeks! Then visitors must wash hands with soap for at least 30 seconds and take shoes off to minimize health hazards to the newborns.
